Holly in Chesterland, OH experienced dangerous and damaging icicles on her gutters. Concerned and wanting a solution, she researched why this would be happening. She found that attic under-insulation is usually the culprit for a problem like this, so she called our office to schedule a free in-home estimate.
The energy consultant met with her, climbed into the attic, and found a lot of ineffective pink rolled fiberglass on the floor. Although this type of insulation is a great temporary, DIY project, it does not last. The consultant sat with the homeowner and explained we could completely re-insulate the attic to create a more functional, icicle-resistant home. By extracting the old fiberglass and blowing in TruSoft cellulose at an R49 rate, the attic would have better air quality, increased energy-savings and reduced risk of ice dams.
