RetroFoam Injection Foam Installed on Multi-Siding House in Canal Fulton, OH
Challenge
A customer in Canal Fulton, OH needed a solution to a few rooms that were significantly colder than the rest of the home. Her child's room was the hardest to regulate the temperature and she wasn't sure why. She did online research and found that Primary Home Improvements was her local insulation expert that could provide professional advice during a free estimate. She was promptly set up with the in-home quote.
Kevin, the energy consultant, arrived to the free estimate and began assessing the walls and attic. The attic had enough insulation and R-Value currently, so he thermal scanned the walls. He found that a lot of the walls on both floors of the home were showing blue and purple. These colors on the thermal imaging gun signify insufficient insulation in the existing walls. This would explain why the home was being difficult at keeping a consistent temperature. Kevin sat down with the customer and explained that their home would be a great candidate for RetroFoam injection foam insulation and she was set up with a project date to get the work done.
Solution
On the day of the install, the wall crew arrived and do an initial walkthrough with the customer. This included proper introductions of the team and an re-explanation of processes. The intallers then began the project by starting on the first floor of the home. One of the many pros of RetroFoam is that it can be installed from the exterior walls without the mess of a remodel or ruining drywall. The first floor of the home was shaker siding so the installers carefully pulled back a section of wood around the house. They then drilled small holes between the studs and began injecting RetroFoam into the cavities. RetroFoam is non-toxic, class 1 fire rated and will never settle in the walls. This innovative injection foam insulation comes out like shaving cream in order to fit in every empty space in the wall, but then hardens after 48 hours to provide the best insulating power. Once done injecting RetroFoam, the wall crew sealed the holes with wood plugs and carefully put the shaker siding back on. They then did the same exact process on the second floor. The top floor of the home was vinyl siding so the installers took a section off around the top floor in order to access each wall cavity. RetroFoam was injected, holes were plugged, siding put back on and you couldn't even tell that they were there! Once hardened in the wall cavity, the customer would be able to feel a consistent and comfortable temperature throughout the home. This gave her peace of mind, especially for her child.
