Attic goes from Bare to Full in Akron, OH
Challenge
A homeowner in Akron, OH was frustrated at his utility bills and that he couldn't keep the house properly heated. He knew the attic was the source of the headache so he began searching for a local and expert insulation company. He found that Primary Home Improvements could provide him a free in-home estimate.
Solution
Kevin, the energy consultant, arrived to perform the free estimate. He climbed up into the attic and noticed that there was no insulation at all. The attic was in it's original form with plywood as the only barrier between the floor. He sat down with the customer and explained how Tru-Soft cellulose would be the best solution for this big problem. The customer was excited to have the project scheduled to insulate his almost 2,000 square foot attic.
On the day of the install, the attic crew began by air sealing the attic. Air sealing before insulating is a vital step in further stopping any drafts from getting through. Cracks and gaps were sealed with foam packs to provide protection again air infiltration. Installers then began blowing-in dense cellulose evenly across the attic floor. Tru-Soft is environmentally friendly as well as mold and fire resistant. Being installed at R-49 level, this attic can now successfully shield the home against unwanted air.
